Our Schools are based in Isolo, specifically inside the Lagos State Low-Cost Housing Estate, popularly called Jakande Estate at Oke Afa, Isolo, via Ejigbo.

LAUREL SCHOOLS was established in 1986 with a vision of a better tomorrow for our country and for our world. This has been our motto since inception. The major driving force of our founders is to be able to deliver quality educational support to pupils and students within the community with a view to inspiring them to become role models within the society. Young leaders who will be able to take their stand within the evolving global society.

At Laurel Schools, we aim to provide all round educational services that sees us place great premium on our learners as well as a need to bring out the best in them by allowing them express themselves in as many ways as possible. We constantly push our core values as a way of developing empathy for others and building confidence in their own abilities to accomplish tasks and to make them aspire to be whatever they set their minds to. In this age of critical thinking, we do not want any of them to be left behind, we strive to make them think and solve problems on their feet as well as been responsible citizens within the society.

The attainment of all of these is made possible by an ensemble of great educators. People who provide the necessary motivation, care and expertise to inculcate deeply rich learning that makes for deeper understanding and development of wisdom beyond just book knowledge. Our successes so far are hinged on experiences, talents and passion that our educators bring to bear on their calling. At Laurel Schools we believe that every single child has an innate gifting/ability that is only waiting to be discovered and released for the child to get to full potential in life. Its our duty to tap and bring this out.

LAUREL SCHOOLS environment has always surprised people as we are easily one of the very few Schools within our area with the necessary grounds and facilities conducive for healthy learning and other co-curricular activities. We deliberately ensure that our children are all involved in these co-curricular activities viz; sports, debates, Music, fine arts and other hands on activities. Leadership and service is a big deal for us, so we enroll all prefects for a leadership course every year. This is a course that will set them up for life.

We cannot fully express here all we have on offer within our Schools until you experience them all firsthand. We therefore welcome you to go through our site and ensure you schedule a visit so that we can physically intimate you on our offerings and then you can share in our experience. .

History

Laurel School was birthed from a passion for quality education of Commodore Musulumi Ayinla Onawale and his wife Olufunke Christianah Onawale. Both had extensive experience in the educational sector spanning over 4 decades. Musulumi Ayinla rose to become the Nigerian Navy’s Director of Education until his retirement while Christianah was with the Lagos State Education Board until retirement to start off Laurel Schools in 1987. They both took the quality decision to launch out with the dream in a 4-flat building in Isolo a suburb of Lagos.

Laurel Primary School was started with 4 pupils and it grew within the area to over 200 students resulting in very stretched facilities.

The School was able to secure a new site to resolve the issue of stretched facilities by moving to its present location in Jakande Estate in 1993. As part of the Schools growth plans, the governing board took a decision to start off the secondary section in 2000. This was critically needed to satisfy the demands of the stakeholders and cater to pupils who were leaving our primary section and were yearning for continuity in the services they were getting. Subsequently, the dream of the secondary section was birthed in September of 2000 with its first intakes into Junior Secondary 1 and this enabled us accommodate the surge in pupil enrollment that had plagued the Isolo campus.

Laurel Schools ran a two-campus structure from 1993 to 2007 when the Isolo campus was closed and all pupils and students moved to the new more conducive site. Over the years, Laurel Schools has grown as a brand that is presently very visible within our core market. We have expanded and also provided high end facilities thus raising the bar within our present operating area.
